Girls have the power to lead and be influential decision-makers in our society. It is the goal of Youth Mentorship Leadership Association (YMLA) is to help dismantle internal and external barries that prevent women from fully activiating their potential. We call on you to join us in continuing to build a leadership development pipeline for girls by helping them increase their social capital.
Barriers to Leadership
Teachers have identified significant external barriers to leadership for underserved girls of color, including lack of parental support, low socioeconomic status, and lack of adult role models of the same race/ethnicity.
